We are happy to announce the creation of a new listserve to meet the needs of educators interested in the Louisiana wetlands. An informal group called the Louisiana Wetland Education Coalition (LaWEC) has initiated this tool to help distribute materials and workshop information that are focused on wetlands information and appropriate for the K-12 education forum (both informal and formal education).

If you would like to join the Louisiana Wetland Education Coalition listserve, then you will need to sign up. Send a message to the following email address, listserv@listserv.lsu.edu, with only the following line listed in the body of the email:

SUBSCRIBE LAWEC-L YourFirstName YourLastName

For example:

SUBSCRIBE LAWEC-L John Doe

You should not put anything in the subject line. It is important that you remove any automatic signatures from the email that is sent, otherwise the signup process will not work. You will get a return message indicating that you have been subscribed to the listserve along with information on other listserve operations you can perform (such as unsubscribe, etc.) Contact Pam Blanchard PamB@lsu.edu if you have trouble joining the listserve.

As a participant, you are welcome to send messages to folks subscribing to the Louisiana Wetland Education Coalition listserve. We ask that participants focus their emails on educational opportunities and materials directly related to wetland education. To send a message, address the email to LAWEC-L@listserv.lsu.edu. The message will be distributed to all those who have signed up to the listserve.

Anyone is welcome to join this listserve - including educators learning about Louisiana wetlands through the JASON Expedition: Disappearing Wetlands. If you have any questions, we’d be happy to try to answer them. It is a great opportunity to spread the word about the great educational resources available from Louisiana agencies devoted to teaching about Louisiana's fragile coast, estuaries, and wetlands.

Sincerely,

Pam Blanchard, Dianne Lindstedt, Deborah Schultz, Susan Bergeron
