Transfer Procedures for Bayou Grand Cheniere Ridge and Marsh Creation (BA-173)

The Louisiana Coastal Wetlands Conservation and Restoration Task Force is initiating procedures to transfer the Bayou Grand Cheniere Ridge and Marsh Creation (BA-173) project from the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) Program to the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) of Louisiana. This transfer is being considered based on the request from the Non-Federal Sponsor, CPRA, on September 6, 2019 and with concurrence of the project’s Federal Sponsor, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The project is expected to be implemented by other funding sources through CPRA. The transfer of the BA-173 project from CWPPRA to CPRA allows any unused CWPPRA funds to be returned to the CWPPRA program for other use. This 23rd Priority Project List project is located in Plaquemines Parish west of the Mississippi River near West Pointe a la Hache. Specifically, the project features are south of Lake Hermitage and along the eastern side of Bayou Grande Cheniere.

The Task Force will consider the request to transfer the BA-173 project contingent upon any written comments received. Written comments should be provided by December 13, 2019 to the following address:

Colonel Stephen F. Murphy
District Commander
U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District
7400 Leake Avenue
New Orleans, Louisiana 70118

If you need further information, please contact Mr. Mark Wingate, Deputy District Engineer, at (504) 862-2204 or Mr. Brad Inman, Projects and Restoration Branch Chief, at (504) 862-2124.
