Coastal 101 is a public outreach and community education event designed and implemented to educate Jefferson Parish residents on the critical importance of our coastal wetlands and flood protection infrastructure. This annual event by the Jefferson Parish Coastal Management Department includes representatives from local, state, and federal government agencies, both Flood Authorities, and representatives from the Governor’s Office. State and local legislators are interested and expected to be present as the importance of coastal restoration issues continue to dominate state and national discussions. This interactive event highlights the coastal restoration and protection projects within Jefferson Parish, by incorporating models, tabling displays, panel discussions, presentations and free food for Jefferson residents interested in protecting and preserving our coastal habitats, economy, and culture.
