COASTAL WETLANDS PLANNING, PROTECTION AND RESTORATION ACT

PROJECT STATUS REPORT as of 28-Mar-2024

Four Mile Canal Terracing and Sediment Trapping

PROJECT LOCATION:

The project is located four miles south of Intracoastal City in Vermilion Parish, LA.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project will construct and plant 50,000 feet of terraces with smooth cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora) to create 214 acres of wetlands and protect an additional 113 acres in Vermilion Bay.

PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 29-Apr-2011 )

An O&M inspection was conducted by OCPR on 2-22-11. OCPR reported the project is showing signs of continued erosion along the 4-Mile canal side of the project on the ends of the terraces. However, at this time an O&M does not appear to be warranted.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $2,355,302 , which includes $1,939,796 for construction first costs, and $198,634 and $216,872 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
