Lake Portage Land Bridge

PROJECT LOCATION:

This project is located in Vermilion Parish within the Rainey Refuge.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The objective of this project is to prevent the shoreline south of Lake Portage from breaching and creating another pass from Vermilion Bay to the Gulf. The project consists of backfilling a canal and armoring the beach with rock.

PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 17-Apr-2012 )

Project construction was completed on May 15, 2004. Monitoring Plan was finalized on July 19, 2004

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $1,181,129 , which includes $988,890 for construction first costs, and $87,096 and $105,143 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
