COASTAL WETLANDS PLANNING, PROTECTION AND RESTORATION ACT

PROJECT STATUS REPORT as of 24-Apr-2024

Bayou Boeuf Pump Station DEAUTHORIZED

PROJECT LOCATION:

The project is located in Bayou Boeuf at Amelia, LA.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project does not include design or construction/maintenance, etc. This project was verbally redefined at a meeting during the week of April 21, 1997 between EPA, COE and LA DNR and Mr. Martin Cancienne, to include project scoping/coordination, ecological characterization, and related activities leading to a determination of restoration/enchancement/maintenance needs which could be formulated into alternative recommendations for design features. These recommendations would be made available to the Corps for use in its eventual construction/operation of the Bayou Boeuf and related pump station(s) connected to flood protection activities under the WRDA. Part of the purpose of this project is to link the wetlands protection/restoration objectives of the Breaux Act with flood protection and navigation needs generally covered by WRDA. The project should provide a linkage between the lower Atchafalaya Re-evaluation Study and CWPPRA. The project components consists of implementing long term water management strategy for Verret Basin, and evaluate long term river water delivery strategy from Atchafalaya to Terrebonne Wetlands.
