Bayou Chevee Shoreline Protection

PROJECT LOCATION:

The project is located in the Bayou Chevee marsh area, approximately 2 miles west of Chef Menteur Pass, in the Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge in Orleans Parish, Louisiana.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project consists of constructing a 5,000-foot earthen, erodible dike to contain dredged material from Lake Pontchartrain. The project will create about 150 acres of marsh.

As of Oct 2013, CPRA was in the process of working up a cost estimate for a scheduled rock lift for the Bayou Chevee project.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $2,779,420 , which includes $2,208,532 for construction first costs, and $144,178 and $426,710 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
