PROJECT LOCATION:

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project will restore, to the extent possible, the natural hydrology of the area. A reduction in marsh loss and improved water conditions are expected to occur following project implementation. Long-term water management objectives will be directed towards maintaining a brackish marsh system. The project includes rebuilding the Alkali Ditch levee, utilizing dredge material from the Calcasieu River when available, water control structures and canal plugs.

PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 13-Apr-2010 )

Landowner support for the project has been withdrawn due to changes in project features therefore project team moved to deauthorize project. Task Force voted to approve deathorization in Fall 2009.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $1,097,828 , which includes $671,994 for construction first costs, and $425,834 and $0 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
