PROJECT STATUS REPORT as of 28-Mar-2024

Castille Pass Channel Sediment Delivery DEAUTHORIZED

PROJECT LOCATION:

The project is located off East Pass in the Atchafalaya Delta in St. Mary Parish

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project will dredge a system of distributary channels to create 589 acres of marsh through sediment placement and natural deposition.

PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 04-Aug-2009 )

As a result of perceived induced shoaling by the proposed construction features, the COE identified several special conditions for permit issuance. These special award conditions (maintenance dredging for perpetuity) are not yet programmatically approved, thus, the NMFS and OCPR have moved to de-authorize the project.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $1,717,883 , which includes $1,683,932 for construction first costs, and $33,951 and $0 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
