Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP)
Fourchon Beach Sweep!
Restore critical habitat, protect wildlife, and preserve Louisiana's
beautiful beaches.
Event: Fourchon Beach Sweep
Location: Fourchon Beach
Parking at the Port Fourchon Public Launch on LA 3090
A shuttle will transport you to the beach
Date: Saturday, May 24th, 2008
Time: 9:00 am
Join the BTNEP volunteer team, the Edward Wisner Donation, and Chevron
Pipeline Co. as we restore the beaches and dunes of Fourchon Beach. The
devastating hurricane season of 2005 may be two years behind us, but our
environment is still recovering. Wind, waves, and high water delivered
countless tons of marine debris to the shores of Louisiana. This debris is
not only an eye sore; it endangers the natural inhabitants of this
critical habitat. To make matters worse, currents deliver litter
carelessly discarded by Gulf boaters every day. You can help preserve the
diverse ecology of coastal Louisiana by joining with your neighbors to
clear the litter and debris from the dunes and beaches of Fourchon Beach.
