Breaux Act Newsflash - Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act would like to acknowledge the life and efforts of Dr. Patrick S. "Shea" Penland, one of Louisiana's leading coastal scientists.

As you may have heard, we are mourning the loss of our Pontchartrain
Institute director Shea Penland who passed away on Tuesday. For those who
knew him and of his work, you will appreciate the enormous contribution he
made to coastal science but also the vital work he did for educating
everyone about Louisiana's coastal issues. Our education program is at UNO
because of his recognition of the importance of education. His death is a
great loss for all of us.
A memorial service will be held on April 3 at 2 p.m. at the Homer L. Hitt
Alumni & Visitors Center. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
In memory of Dr. Penland, his family has requested that contributions may
be made to the University of New Orleans Foundation for the Shea Penland
Endowment Fund, c/o Office of University Advancement, 2000 Lakeshore
Drive, New Orleans, LA 70148.
