CREST Scholars Meeting

The CREST (Coastal Restoration and Enhancement Through Science and
Technology) Scholars Program funds graduate student research at the member
universities of the CREST program - Louisiana State University, LSU
Agriculture Center, Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON),
Loyola University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University,
Southern University at New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana University,
Tulane University, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, University of New
Orleans, University of Southern Mississippi - to help train the next
generation of coastal researchers.

CREST Scholar program participants will give presentations on their
research projects at the Lindy Boggs Center at UNO on March 7. Dr. Bob
Thomas of Loyola University will be the lunchtime speaker. For more

lecturer, authors of books on Hurricane Katrina, and the popular
Estuarians (costumed characters)-all promise to make this a fun and

Louisiana Wildlife Federation State Convention
March 14-16, 2008

Conservation groups, sportsmen, environmentalists and natural resource
management professionals from throughout Louisiana will convene at the
Holiday Inn in New Iberia where the Louisiana Wildlife Federation (LWF)
will be holding its 69th Annual Convention the weekend of March 14-16. At
the meeting, delegates and directors will discuss and vote on nearly 20
resolutions that have been proposed for adoption by LWF affiliates and
directors.

Plant trees at Fontainebleau State Park on the Northshore, Monday Feb 25
through Friday, Feb 29; 9am to 3pm each day. Volunteers will plant trees
in Fontainebleau State Park. Volunteers are reforesting areas that were
destroyed by high wind from hurricane Katrina. Katrina knocked down a
significant amount of trees in this park along the Northshore of Lake
Pontchartrain. Orientation and training included. No previous experience
necessary. Water, lunch, sunscreen, bug spray and gloves will be provided
