Grand Bois Cypress Planting
Join Apache Louisiana Minerals and the BTNEP Volunteer Team as we reforest
critical habitat by planting 4000 cypress trees!
Event: Grand Bois Cypress Planting
Location: Bourg-Larose Hwy.
Date: Friday, February 15th, 2008
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm
Cypress forests provide critical habitat and storm protection to
communities throughout coastal Louisiana. Please join us for Phase II of
the Cypress Tree Reforestation Project east of the Grand Bois settlement,
located between Bourg and Larose, LA. This year's efforts will involve
planting approximately 4,000 cypress trees in an area adjacent to last
year's successful project area. Apache Louisiana Minerals Inc. and BTNEP
are again asking for your support to help plant the trees. All planting
equipment (gloves, shovels, dibbles, etc.) will be provided. Volunteers
should bring their own knee boots and a change of clothes. Lunch and
drinks will be provided to all volunteers.

Directions: From the community of Larose: take Hwy. 24 (Bourg-Larose Hwy.)
west towards Houma for approximately 10 miles.
From the community of Klondyke: take Hwy. 24 (Bourg-Larose Hwy.) east
towards Larose for approximately 5.5 miles. Turn south onto gravel road
directly across the road from a cell-phone tower. There will be a sign at
the road entrance. Continue southerly approximately .75 miles down gravel
road to the volunteer sign-in area.

National Wildlife Federation seeks volunteers in February and March for
several volunteer opportunities offered through NWF's Coastal Louisiana

Install Wood Duck Boxes at Audubon Louisiana Nature Center and Joe Brown
Memorial Park in New Orleans East, Saturday, Feb 16, 9am to 3pm.
Volunteers will install wood duck boxes at the banks of marsh at the park.
Wood ducks rely on these nest boxes for the survival of their young from
predators and weather. Volunteers will learn more about the wood duck and
how to install nest boxes. Water, lunch, sunscreen, bugspray and gloves
will be provided.
Plant trees at Fontainebleau State Park on the Northshore, Saturday, Feb
23, 9am to 3pm. Volunteers will plant trees in Fontainebleau State Park.
Volunteers are reforesting areas that were destroyed by high wind from
hurricane Katrina. Katrina knocked down a significant amount of trees in
this park along the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. Orientation and
training included. No previous experience necessary. Water, lunch,
sunscreen, bug spray and gloves will be provided.

19; Wednesday, Feb 20; Thursday, Feb 21; Monday, Feb 25 through Friday,
Feb 29; 9am to 3pm each day. Volunteers will plant trees in Fontainebleau
