Sweet Lake/Willow Lake Hydrologic Restoration
PROJECT LOCATION:
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The northern shoreline of the GIWW has eroded into Sweet Lake for approximately 1.3 miles and into Willow Lake for approximately 0.5 miles, increasing turbidity in the waters of these lakes. The project objectives are to reestablish the shoreline (hydrologic boundary) between Sweet Lake and the GIWW, to reduce lake turbidity and tidal exchange, and to halt erosin and trap sediments needed to rebuild marsh along the northern and northwestern shorelines of Sweet Lake.
PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 06-Dec-2002 )
The rock bank protection feature of the project is complete. The second contract has been awarded; terrace construction and vegetative planting will be finished by October 1, 2002. Contractor was unable to complete the construction. Contract terminated; remaining work was advertised December 2001. Contract awarded, and construction completed October 2, 2002.
FUND STATUS:
The current project estimate is $3,929,152 , which includes $3,289,390 for construction first costs, and $161,249 and $478,513 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
