Audubon Institute XXXXXXXXXXXXX This site offers camps, adventures, and great research instruments. Audubon Adventures is an environmental education program for children in grades 3-6, while Audubon Camps such as the "Get Swamped" offers something for everyone.
Audubon Nature InstituteXXXXXXXXXXXXXThis engaging site offers teacher workshops (such as one designed for grades 3-6 about wetlands), a wide variety of wetland teacher guides, dozens of wetland-related activities, field trip guides, and wetland animal information.
Audubon Nature Institute/WILD-LAB      XXX     The Wild-Lab site educates students about the Louisiana Wetlands through an online Earth Science curriculum for 5th-7th graders. It includes streaming videos, quizzes, and many more activities to challenge your students with.
Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary ProgramXXXXXXXXXXXXXThis web site offers educational resources for all ages. It has maps, videos, and a photo gallery revealing Louisiana's wetlands. BTNEP also has two interactive CDs and several workshops available to all educators.
Louisiana Coastal Wetlands Conservation and Restoration Task Force      XXXXXXXXThis web site offers Watermarks magazines and a slide show about Louisiana's coastal restoration, while providing a Kid's Corner for students. Requests for free educational materials, such as CDs, can be made.
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and FisheriesXXXXXXXXXXXXXLDWF offers many exciting educational workshops for teachers and students. One example is "Marsh Maneuvers", a 3-day wetlands education camp for senior 4-H students to learn hands-on about Louisiana's coastal wetlands.

North Carolina Coastal Reserve Program             This site offers videos about the wetlands, internet field trips, lesson plans, resource links, and educator workshops. North Carolina has many estuarian animals and habitats similar to that of Louisiana, so don't pass up this great site!
Pontchartrain Institute for Environmental Sciences    XXXXXXXXXThe Pontchartrain Institute's Coastal Wetlands Education Program offers opportunities to teachers and students to learn about the values and issues of our coastal wetlands. Programs include field trips (4th - 12th), summer programs (7th -12th) students, and teacher workshops.
Smithsonian National Zoological ParkXXXXXXXXXXXXXCheck out this web site for great teacher resources and a wonderful kids page! The education site offers grade-specific criteria and activity guides (wetlands activity included), while the kids' site offers several wonderful discoveries!
U.S. Department of the Interior-Bureau of Land ManagementXXXXXXXXXXXXX This site offers teachers several classroom activities related to wetlands such as one titled "Mixing it Up." In this activity students study the composition of soil and make their own soil mixtures to learn how soil helps plants grow.

Wetland Education Through Maps And Aerial Photography     XXXXXXXXTopographic and aerial maps along with satellite images of coastal Louisiana can be found here. Each teacher supplement has resource manuals, photography, and maps for every WETMAAP area along the Gulf Coast.

Ducks Unlimited - Project Webfoot         X X X             Ducks Unlimited launched Project Webfoot, a nationwide effort to raise awareness and appreciation of wetlands among students, teachers, parents and communities. Project Webfoot provides teachers with learning materials that can be integrated into the existing school curriculum to help bring the world of wetlands to life for 4th-6th grade students. These materials encourage active participation and problem solving using an interdisciplinary approach that can be implemented to teach reading, science, art and other subjects.

Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality XXXXXXXXXXXXXThis web site offers activities, fact sheets, and lesson plans about water quality and its effect on wetlands, along with general environmental issues and other wetland links for teachers and students.
Louisiana Department of Natural Resources        X     Louisiana eight-graders can learn about an extraordinary wet and wild area in the very heart of our state--- the Atchafalaya Basin. DNR's Atchafalaya Basin Program offers a five-part learning tool to help students know more about this remarkable and most productive habitat for fish and wildlife. NOAA XXXXXXXXXXXXX With 26 National reserves providing K-12 education programs, this site is not one to pass up! Activities include: hands-on field experience during full-day or half-day field trips, teacher training programs and more.
The Northwest Fisheries Science CenterXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe Northwest Fisheries Science Center has established a strong level of community Involvement, outreach, and education. The organization hosts teacher workshops and brings touch tanks to schools.
U.S. Department of the Interior              DOI's teacher site lists links for Life Science, Ecology, and Earth Science. Make sure you click on the link "Classroom Activities" and pick the activity titled "All Shapes and Sizes." For some even greater wetland fun, chose the link "Frogweb."

USDA Forestry ServiceXXXXXXXXXXXXXThis web site offers links for kids, older students, and teachers. Each web page contains appropriate information and activities such as "Woodsy Owl" for kids, "Classroom Earth" for students, and curriculum ideas for teachers.

America's Wetland Campaign to Save Coastal LouisianaXXXXXXXXXXXXXThis web site offers coloring books, videos, and quizzes about Louisiana's wetlands for kids of all ages. You can take a wetland tour with Mr. Bill, order a free Estuarian Activity Book, or download a wetland education matrix.
Estuary Live-National Estuarine Research Reserve SystemXXXXXXXXXXXXXLearn what an estuary is, watch streaming videos of wetland activities, and visit links to other estuary sites such as the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Albemarle Pamlico National Estuary Program.
Environmental Protection Agency-Wetlands       XXXXXXThis web site describes wetlands and explains their functions to students and teachers. Several fact sheets on wetlands are displayed along with information on how wetlands are protected. This is a great resource for teachers!
Louisiana Department of Natural Resources     XXXXXXXXThe DNR web site provides facts about population, marsh acreage, commerce, fishing, and the Christmas tree program in Louisiana. Also, Kermit the Frog helps DNR spread the word about Louisiana's coastal crisis.
Office of Governor Blanco XXXXX        The coloring pages for the kids on this site include many wetland animals such as crawfish, brown pelicans, white perch, and many more. It also allows students to learn about the state symbols, history, and Governor Kathleen Blanco.
U.S. Army Corps of EngineersXXXXXXXXXXXXXThis site offers games, activities, lesson plans, and so much more. Make sure you check out the Environmental Biology section and find the downloadable booklet for grades K-5 titled, "The Young Scientist's Introduction to the Wetlands."
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service             The educator's page offers curriculum resources, activities, and community service projects, while the student's site invites kids to explore and learn about fish, wildlife, and plants and how they can help conserve and protect them.

Ducks Unlimited             Ducks Unlimited is a world leader in wetlands conservation and this site offers invaluable facts about wetlands. For example, "A recent study estimated that 1 acre of wetland can store over 1.5 million gallons of flood water."
Natural Resources Conservation Service             Learn more about the wetlands through this highly informative web site. Subjects discussed include: "Where the Wetlands Are," "Not all Wetlands are Alike," "Wetlands are Busy Places," "Plant Life," "Wildlife," and "Endangered Species."
Restore or Retreat, Inc.             This web site gives a personal look at the immediacy of Louisiana's eroding coast from the perspective of the people that live there. Restore or Retreat (ROR) is a non-profit group created to help save the Barataria and Terrebonne basins.
Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana              This site offers a resource guide for teachers who want more information on Louisiana's coastal wetlands. This is a great site from which to download publications and receive updates on activities about coastal wetlands in your area.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service              This site offers dozens of links about the wetlands in Louisiana, or if you chose to venture even further in, the site offers links to other habitat and wetland activities recommended for educators..
